Yesterday I hosted an informal bridal shower for a friend. I LOVE hosting parties and truthfully, it's the only time I enjoy cooking! In preparation for this gathering of 18 people, I walked over to my mom's house to raid her "party" cabinet. I wasn't really thinking about what I was doing... well, I was thinking how I didn't want to handwash that much china after the party. So I'll be honest and say that I was going to grab some paper products. Fortunately, next to her paper products was this AWESOME Pampered Chef picnic set! Phew, score for the planet! Ok, it's plastic, but it's reuseable, adorable, and functional! I love the colors, love how the silverware snaps together so the sets are easy to carry and LOVE how the matching cups (not pictured) sit on the plate so people can carry their goodies and eat on their laps with ease!

I truly can't believe she stole the win with just ONE entry! The winner of the button which will be designed by South of Sheridan is... MY MOM! Congrats mom :) Now we either need to start you a blog OR you can give it away (psst... the woman is NOT above bribery. However, her non-lazy green preggo daughter did have the most entries for the giveaway. So, your bribes need to be REALLY GOOD in order to usurp the non lazy daughter).
This idea comes from Zel's Lazy Green Grandma :)
When your bananas are starting to turn and you begin to feel the pressure to DROP EVERYTHING AND MAKE BANANA BREAD... STAT (everyone does feel this pressure, I'm sure!), there is a much lazier/ simpler thing to do... especially when there is a youngster around! Peel that semi brown banana, cut it into chunks, plop them into a container (reuseable, of course... ok, or ziploc!) and PRESTO! A healthy, yummy frozen snack for my teething babe! If you don't have a baby around... well plop those frozen chunks into a blender with some frozen berries, some ground flax seed, some yogurt, and a dash of milk/ soy milk. HELLO smoothie! (or I've been wanting to try this recipe: Dirty Banana (love that name): 1/2oz kahlua, 2oz dark rum, 2oz half-n-half, 1 frozen banana. Blend, sip, smile!) Please tell me, am I the only LAZY MAMA who sometimes has an extra cup of coffee and pretends it's a balanced breakfast because the idea of fixing breakfast for one more person seems too overwhelming? Or let's their surprisingly well-rested baby (after screaming for over 2 hours last night) play with the box of computer cords so that I can have some "me time" at the computer? Computer cords are safe play things if they're NOT plugged into anything... right?
This is one of those days when my understanding husband would say "you're not lazy, you just can't sleep through her screams like I can.". If I could choose a super power... that's what I'd ask for. The ability to sleep through my babe's non-emergency screams! However, it's Wednesday and I have laundry to finish, blogs to write, dinners to prep, a celebratory overnight camping trip to pack for (hubby's first week at a new job!), a family reunion on Saturday, and am hosting a bridal shower on Sunday! WHO HAS TIME to eat or nap? I'm jealous of all the mama's out there who are solidly on one side or the other of the let them cry it out/ respond to cries when it comes to night-time sleep. I flip-flop and that makes it so much harder! Zel was doing a good job for awhile, but last week teeth started to give her pain and then we travelled over the weekend. Both of those things fall into my "do whatever needs to be done to make her content" philosophy. So, she enjoyed midnight cuddles and snacks. Now things are back to normal and I have to retrain her how to fall back asleep without mama. But what's the point if I'm gonna be lying in bed awake anyway? OH yeah, the point is that in a few days, I might get to sleep uninterrupted for 8 hours. OK, I'm feeling better. It's important for mama's to do a little griping (too bad they don't make gripe water for mamas... or perhaps there's some in my liquour cabinet! YEHAW!). I supposed I'll go play with my adorable little RASCAL... those multicolored computer cords do look fun! |
