Here’s the technical info on dryer balls (directly from Domestically Green’s Etsy store):
These wool dryer balls are a very eco-friendly alternative to dryer sheets. You can use as few as 2 or up to 8 to help reduce static and reduce drying time!
Why buy wool dryer balls?
Stop wasting money buying chemical-filled dryer sheets from the store that just end up in the landfills. These dryer balls are handmade by me and can be used for years to come! They are 100% wool and contain no chemicals or hazardous materials. Ordinary dryer sheets contain many chemicals that can leave a film on your lint screen. Over time, this build-up can make your dryer slower, burn out the heating unit and/or cause fires. They are also much safer than plastic balls you can buy from the store as they do not contain PVC. They are safe for you, your kids and your pets!
How do they work?
As the balls are circulated in the dryer, they separate your clothes to allow the warm air from the dryer get to all articles of clothing. The more dryer balls that you add to your dryer, the faster your clothes will dry. In addition, the friction created by the felted wool being rubbed against your clothing helps to cut down on static cling and soften your clothes. The more dryer balls that you add to your dryer, the softer your clothes get.
Are they safe for cloth diapers?
Yes! These are chemical free and are great to use for cloth diapers – they work great at getting your cloth diapers soft and speeding up your drying time. We all know how long prefolds and AIO's can take in the dryer!
Will the dryer balls pill after extended use?
Yes, your wool dryer balls may start to pill after extended use (similar to what happens to your wool sweaters). If they bother you, you can shave them off with a sweater shaver. Or, you can leave them be as this will only cause more friction to help soften your clothes!
This is an all-natural, eco-friendly way to do laundry! They each measure approximately 8 1/2 inches in diameter. As these are handmade, each ball may not be exactly the same size as another. I do strive to make them as close to the same size as possible.
WIN IT: Open to residents of US and Canada
You will win a set of wool dryer balls, retail value $10 (the rolled ones, not the awesome earth felted one pictured, those are sold individually for $8… tempted much?)
